It’s the morning of 9th October 1989 in East Berlin and famous actor Otto Wolf (Jörg Schüttauf) is stuck in rehearsal for a secret play called “Forwards Ever” in which he plays Erich Honecker. Through contacts however Otto discovers some shocking news: The demonstrations against the East German regime that are planned for that evening in Leipzig are to be forcibly shot down, and his pregnant daughter Anne (Josefine Preuß) is already on her way there!

So Otto and his company hatch a daredevil plan: As long as the real Erich Honecker is hunting in Wandlitz, Otto, the “fake” Honecker, can join the Central Committee and reverse the Leipzig firing order.

The first Honecker mistaken identity comedy, FORWARDS EVER! takes a humorous look at the Leipzig demonstrations on 9th October 1989, which marked the beginning of the end for East Germany.

Der lustigste Film zum Mauerfall seit ‚Good Bye, Lenin‘.
