The journey that became a legend. In 1947 young explorer Thor Heyerdahl (Pål Sverre Valheim Hagen) crossed the great Pacific Ocean on a homemade raft called the Kon-Tiki – not knowing if they would survive. But this dangerous scientific expedition is the only real way for the Norwegian to prove his revolutionary theory. And in so doing, Heyerdahl not only pits himself against the scientific community but also puts his life, and his one great love, in jeopardy.
Together with a five-strong crew, the non-swimmer sails nearly 5,000 miles across the open seas on this primitive raft. And without any kind of modern equipment, the Kon-Tiki comes face to face with the violence of nature every day.
