ACTOR AND DIRECTOR, CHARLY HÜBNER:

“We desperately wanted to tell this story, of course in the spirit of Thees Uhlmann’s novel, with a lot of humor, fun and joie de vivre, because I believe that the events of this extra special journey will make you feel both relieved and joyful, as well as captivating you and making you laugh, as it’s about the only moment in life which is clear right from the beginning and yet we try to keep as unclear as possible.”

“We’re really happy to be working with Charly on his first shoot as a director, building on the trust and his wonderful work with us as a great actor.”

SYNOPSIS:

SOPHIA, DER TOD UND ICH is the zany, funny and touching story about everything in life that really counts. After a restless night, there’s a knock at Reiner’s (Dimitri Schad) door, only to find Morten de Sarg (Marc Hosemann), his own death, standing there. But much to his amazement, he can’t bring himself to allow Reiner to die, so instead the doorbell rings again.

Sophia (Anna Maria Mühe) has agreed to meet her ex-boyfriend at his mother Lore’s (Johanna Gastdorf) birthday party. They decide to make the journey together, a trip that ends with Reiner meeting his seven-year-old son Johnny (Matteo Kanngiesser) again, who he hasn’t seen in ages. And all under the strict eye of God (Josef Ostendorf) and Archangel Michaela (Lina Beckmann).
