Leaving her home in Burkina Faso, Ayiva (Koudous Seihun) joins her best friend Abas, who is on his way to Europe so that he can financially provide for his daughter. The couple barely survive the dangerous crossing in a smuggler’s boat, and arriving in Italy, they bump up against a climate of hostility, making it difficult for them to acclimatize to their new life. Eventually they find work and new friends on a plantation, but when immigrants are violently attacked, for Ayiva and Abas suddenly everything is in jeopardy.
