It’s late summer in the idyllic Lower Engadine valley in Switzerland: Ursli is helping his parents with the backbreaking harvest on the alpine pastures. A deep friendship connects him to Sereina, who is the same age and spending her summer with her parents in nearby Maiensäss. When, on their way down from the pastures, some of the harvest goes missing, the family has to borrow money from the wealthy village landowner. And when Ursli has to give kid goat Zila to rich grocer’s son Roman, his world begins to fall apart.
One of Switzerland’s most popular children’s books MOUNTAIN BOY is based on the 1945 picture book by Selina Chönz und Alois Carigiet, now brought to life on the big screen in loving detail.
