Cecil (Pauline Collins), Reggie (Tom Courtenay) and Wilf (Billy Connolly) live in a home for former opera singers. On 10th October, as happens every year, there will be a concert to commemorate Verdi’s birthday. But the trio are brought into disarray when opera star Jean (Maggie Smith), once married to Reggie, arrives.
Refusing to take part in the quartet’s planned performance, she still acts the great diva. But the long awaited annual concert is getting ever closer, and Cecil, Wilf und Reggie can’t go on without her.
Both funny and touching at the same time, QUARTET tells the story of four friends finally able to make peace, whose friendship is brought back to life by their common love of applause.
