PHILIP PRATT, DIRECTOR OF GERMAN ORIGINALS AT AMAZON STUDIOS:

“With SACHERTORTE, we’ve found the perfect subject for our next Amazon Original from Germany. This entertaining love story is a modern fairytale about searching for and finding true love. The film unites traditional elements with an original, humorous and clever narrative and it’s the perfect film for gray fall days, when we’re all yearning for a little warmth and coziness.”

KIRSTIN WILLE, PRODUCER AT DCM:

“SACHERTORTE shows us that sometimes in life we have to actively seize the moment and take steps that we wouldn’t ordinarily have the confidence to take, as that’s when something really special can happen. We’re really excited to be able to continue our successful partnership with Amazon Studios for this very special love story SACHERTORTE.”

Synopsis

When Karl meets Nini, it’s love at first sight. But the wonderful hours they spend together in Berlin come to an abrupt end when a terrible mishap causes Karl to lose her telephone number.

The only thing he knows about her for sure is that his dream woman goes to the Café Sacher every year on her birthday at 3pm to have an authentic slice of Sachertorte. And so, Karl decides to wait for her there – every afternoon.
