DCM GOT TALENT

IN SPRING 2013, LINA LARISSA STRAHL WON BEST NEW SONGWRITER OF THE YEAR WITH HER SONG “FREAKIN’ OUT” AT TV BROADCASTER KIKA’S “YOUR SONG” COMPETITION. HER MUSICALITY AND PLAYFULNESS MADE HER A PERFECT BIBI, PORTRAYING HER IN THE FEATURE FILMS BIBI & TINA – THE FILM (2014), BEWILDERED AND BEWITCHED (2015), GIRLS VS. BOYS (2016) AND PERFECT PANDEMONIUM (2017). A SINGER FOR ONLY A SHORT TIME, SHE CONTINUED TO PURSUE HER SINGING CAREER AS LINA. AS A SINGER SONGWRITER, SHE HAS BEEN REPRESENTED BY “IRRSINNIG” TALENT MANAGEMENT COMPANY SINCE 2021. DCM TALENTS ACTS ONLY AS HER ACTING AGENCY.

HOW DID YOU GET THE IDEA TO WORK TOGETHER WITH DCM TALENTS?

I was looking for an acting agency, because the needs are quite different to those of a music management agency. When Kirstin Wille, who I’m very close with since filming BIBI & TINA, told me that DCM was planning to found a talent agency outside the realm of film production, sparks flew immediately.

Because besides contacts, such a partnership also requires a huge amount of trust, which is simply a given with us. I’m really excited to be DCM’s first talent!

WHAT PROJECTS CAN WE LOOK FORWARD TO IN THE FUTURE?

This summer, I played the leading role of “Ella” in the feature film FEATURING ELLA. The two-month shoot in Munich and Leipzig was a lot of fun, and as the film is about music, I felt really at home on this project.

I’ll also be involved in a big, animated film/dubbing project this October, which is slated for release in cinemas in spring next year. Of course, I’m also working on my music, so that I have new music for my tour in February/March 2022.

IF YOU COULD ACT IN YOUR DREAM ROLE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

I still love the HBO series “Euphoria”. It would definitely be a dream to take part in a project like that, where both the role and the whole project are absolutely compelling.
But also other strong female roles, for example, Sansa (Sophie Turner) in Game of Thrones, or Tiffany, played by

Jennifer Lawrence, keep on impressing me. It would be a great challenge to play the emotional depth and strength of these roles. At the same time, I’ve always dreamt of being in a superhero or action movie and filming my own stunts.

YOU WERE ALSO THE VOICE FOR THE DISNEY CHARACTER VAIANA. WHAT DO YOU PARTICULARLY ENJOY ABOUT DUBBING?

Dubbing is always a huge challenge. At the end of the day, you’re breathing life into an animated figure or a real person. Using only your voice and tone to create a character that’s powerful and identifiable without deviating too much from the (voiced) original.

HOW DO YOU LIKE TO SPEND YOUR FREE TIME?

I love spending time with my dog, my boyfriend or my friends. When it comes to sport, I’ve been trying since 2019 to improve my figure skating, or I keep fit with a bit of football or other sports. But I also love stretching out on the sofa and watching a good film or TV series.

DO YOU HAVE A MUSIC TIP FOR US OR ARE YOU LISTENING TO SOMETHING SPECIAL RIGHT NOW?

I think Olivia Rodrigo’s debut album is really cool. There are quite a few songs on it I really love, and which make me think of my own music. I’ve also been a huge fan of Harry Styles since I was a teenager, and I think his solo music is both ambitious and really great. Otherwise, I listen to a lot of different playlists and music styles.

DO YOU HAVE A MOVIE TIP FOR US AND WHAT’S YOUR ALL-TIME FAVORITE FILM?

I recently watched THE HATE YOU GIVE, which I’m still really thinking about. Some good series I’d recommend to everyone are This is Us, Prison Break or Euphoria, as I mentioned earlier. I also really got caught up in Breaking Bad last year. My all-time favorite movie is probably SOUL SURFER. I found the story really moving and since then it’s been one of my dreams to learn to surf.
