1975. Hoping for a quiet life, Dr. Robert Laing (Tom Hiddleston) moves into his new apartment two miles west of London, only to quickly discover that his fellow residents don’t want to leave him in peace. Eventually, he accepts his fate, making friends with his new neighbors and becoming increasingly drawn into their complex social structure. And as he struggles to find his place in this society, Laing’s good manners and intelligence start to show as many cracks as the building itself. The lights go out, the elevators stop working, but the party continues. People are the problem, alcohol the currency, and sex the cure for everything.

This adaptation of J.G. Ballard’s 1975 novel brings his dystopian visions of the future to life with breathtaking cinematography. The film’s catchy soundtrack is provided by Clint Mansell (BLACK SWAN) and British trip hop band Portishead.
